Imagine this: It is late at night, you are comfortably tucked into bed watching a movie on your PC monitor across the room. Suddenly, the "Are you still watching?" prompt appears on the screen. Now you have to get out of your warm bed just to click a button. Or even worse—you are in the middle of an important project and your physical computer mouse decides to stop working completely.

Instead of panicking or buying an expensive wireless keyboard with a trackpad, you can actually use the device you are already holding in your hand. Today, we will show you how to turn your Android smartphone into a highly responsive, wireless touchpad for your Windows PC.

1. The Problem with Bluetooth Mouse Apps

If you search the Google Play Store for "PC Mouse", you will find hundreds of apps. However, most of them rely on Bluetooth connections. Bluetooth is notorious for having a low bandwidth and high latency. This results in a laggy, jittery cursor that skips across your screen and makes clicking small icons incredibly frustrating.

2. Enter Phone Pad: The Zero-Lag Solution

To solve the latency issue, we at BSR Studios developed the Phone Pad system. Instead of using slow Bluetooth, Phone Pad uses your local Wi-Fi router (WLAN) to transmit touch data. Because Wi-Fi can transfer massive amounts of data in milliseconds, the cursor movement on your PC feels instantaneous and buttery smooth, just like a physical laptop trackpad.

It also fully supports multi-touch gestures. You can tap with one finger to left-click, tap with two fingers to right-click, and drag two fingers to scroll through web pages.

3. Download the Required Files

Because your phone and PC need to talk to each other, this system requires two lightweight files: an App for your phone, and a Receiver Server for your PC.

4. Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Once you have downloaded both files, follow these quick steps to establish the connection:

  1. Connect to the Same Network: This is the most crucial step. Ensure that your Android phone and your Windows PC are connected to the exact same Wi-Fi router. (If you don't have Wi-Fi, you can turn on your phone's Mobile Hotspot and connect your PC to it).
  2. Run the PC Server: Open the PhonePad_Server.exe file on your Windows computer. It will display a small window showing your local IP address (for example: 192.168.1.5).
  3. Open the Mobile App: Open the Phone Pad app on your Android device.
  4. Enter the IP and Connect: Type the exact IP address shown on your PC screen into the mobile app and press the Connect button.

🎉 You're Connected!

The mobile app will instantly transition into a large, dark trackpad. Slide your thumb across your phone screen and watch your PC mouse cursor move in real-time!

5. Troubleshooting Firewall Issues

If you followed the steps but the app refuses to connect, there is a 99% chance that Windows Defender Firewall is blocking the local server.

When you run the PC Server for the very first time, Windows will show a "Windows Security Alert" popup. You must check the box that says "Private networks" and click "Allow access". If you accidentally closed this popup, your PC will actively block the signals coming from your phone.

To fix this manually, open your Windows Start Menu, search for "Allow an app through Windows Firewall", find the Phone Pad Server in the list, and make sure the checkboxes next to it are ticked.

That is it! You have successfully upgraded your mobile device into a powerful utility tool. Enjoy controlling your computer from anywhere in the room.
